We are dedicated to supporting The American Red Cross. Our founder and CEO, Deb Tebbs, is a board member, and many of our brokers and staff contribute their time and money to help.
Dozens of devastating wildfires are raging simultaneously forcing tens of thousands of people to evacuate across California, Oregon and Washington. It could be weeks before they can go back home. The American Red Cross is there now and will be there in the weeks and months ahead to help people impacted by these deadly fires.
The fires have burned more than 5 million acres in the past few weeks, causing a very dangerous situation with air quality so poor that officials are urging people to stay indoors. The smoky haze has now reached as far as the East Coast. Thousands are without power, roads are closed, schools shut down and flights cancelled going into the area. Entire towns are destroyed, along with thousands of homes and businesses — with thousands more under threat.
The fire risk isn’t over, even though conditions are improving slightly. Red flag warnings are still in effect for parts of California and Oregon, and dense smoke will continue to affect large parts of the west.
